Playing Catch Up

Well that was an interesting week. Ran my tail off yet I feel like I got nothing accomplished. My family member is home and doing extremely well. Thank you all for your prayers, you have no idea how much it means. 🥹 Things are starting to return to normal, but there still some things to catch up on.

I don't have too much to blog on, since I wasn't "horsing around" this week. I know AJ asked for a customizing post, so here is a rundown of most of my current WIP models. :)

This little lady seems bent on making me throw a tantrum. Every time I feel like I'm nearly finished, she goes and either has an accident or decides she wants another layer of white. I think she only needs one more coat and then edges cleaned. And details, and tail. Oh, and her legs need more blending.

This one makes me so so so sad. I had this guy all the way to this point of his black, one layer away from markings, and I decided to give him a quick coat of sealant. I forgot to double check the heater in the room (I prime in a basement which is only about 20 degrees F above outside temp). It turns out the heater failed to actually start, so when I came back down to check on him, the sealant had crackled. I sanded and sanded, but you can still see some faint little textural differences. *Sigh* When will I learn to always double check that the heater turned on??

The same thing happened to this little guy. He was in his base layer (that's masking tape on his back to help outline his snowcap blanket) when I gave him a shot of sealant with the black model. Crackles for him too, but I haven't started his sanding.

This little flaxen is actually last year's NaMoPaiMo model that I was just never really happy with. I grabbed him off my shelf and started to re-do him. I smoothed his original color and will be starting his re-shading soon. Yikes! His mane really needs re-done too!!

I'm also experimenting with new temporary lighting arrangements. This time of year, my porch receives little to no sufficient lighting for photos. My back patio receives too much, so I'm stuck with a long spell of bad pics when I need them. I'm not terribly happy with the results of this experiment, so I will be trying again this coming week with a new set-up.

The model shown is SDS Spiked Punch. I show him as a Selle Francais.

Thank you again for your patience during this trying week, and for your prayers. Things should be back to normal now. :)

New Arrivals (And Boy Does One of Them Smell Good!)

What is blue, spotted, white, and clear, and smells like cinnamon sugar? The long awaited new addition post! I really didn't mean to build it up so much, but it just kept being delayed by all the Breyer reveal news posts.

Blue! I got two of these little fellers. They are both for customizing, and I might sell one of the customs. But that's a long way off. This is just one of them. It's a really cute little sculpt. I find it quite funny that the air hole in the traditional one  translated down during the "shrinking" process. XD

Next up is Delphine! She is a new SM CWB SM I just recently completed. She is not completely done in the image, she still needs her eyeballs glossed, but they're the only pics I have of her at the moment. I'm pretty happy with her, what do you guys think?

This is the Arab Stallion from the clearware set, but he's in primer here. The rest of his family are pictured below, without primer. :)

Haha, I probably shouldn't have used flash here, she looks yellow! She's really crystal clear.

All together, it's a really nice set. I'm keeping the CWB clearware (for my mini conga) and priming and painting the other ones just as if they were whiteware. Still deciding on colors for the Shetland and the foal, if anyone has any ideas. :)

This is by far the nicest smelling coolest new addition! This is a beeswax ornament made by HorsieMama. She held a giveaway for them a few weeks ago, but I forgot to enter. She was super thoughtful, and sent me her extra! She sent it as a complete surprise, and it was an amazing pick-me-up when I got it in the mail. Thank you so much HorsieMama!! It smells like heaven. . .

Giveaway Extended!

Unfortunately, I have been crazy busy this week, and haven't had much time to work on new posts. Because of that, I am extending the deadline to enter the giveaway one more week. It now closes on Midnight (EST) December 14th, 2022.

Thank you for all your lovely comments! I'm glad to see some new names appearing!

Some very exciting news transpired this week. Breyer opened up a SR to online attendees! I am positively thrilled. This will tremendously affect whether or not I go in person this year. I am so grateful Breyer chose to allow this option this year!

Also, Helios and Kit are available to buy on the website for SMC members. There is also a really cool article up on the Breyer Blog about Kit's creation.

Also, the new SMC banner arrived, showing the silhouettes for the year.

G1 Arabian Mare, G1 TB Lying Foal, M1 SCO, M1 MFT, G2 Shetland, G3 CWB

We already know that the SCO is Sidewinder, a beautiful, mapped grey appaloosa stallion. The rest are unknown. I will be in some deep trouble if the CWB is the gambler's choice model. However, I think it will probably be the MFT who ends up with that title.
