He's here! Mr. Mysterious himself. Here's a picture of him on his way out to get his photos:
Any final guesses?
A nice package from Alyssa Simin arrived at my door yesterday, and inside was a . . .
Glossy Bravour 54! I won the diorama contest this year! It was so hard not to share it with you all. I knew quite a bit in advance (I had some legal stuff to sign and all) but Breyer swore me to secrecy. I decided to wait for him to arrive before I announced it publicly. :)
Let me tell you, I was not expecting to find the glossy version prettier than the matte. I never do (I still think my matte Nikko is nicer than my glossy one). But this one is quite the exception!! That gloss smooths out all his old imperfections. My copy is gorgeous! His COA is pretty too (but I don't have a pic of it - sorry!). I love that the glossy one has a grey area on his snoot! So cute. The matte one is all black there.
I decided to name him SDS Grandpa's War Bond. He's a comforting model to have on the shelf, but I never plan on selling him. It is really nice to know he's there (and my glossy Nikko from last year).
He looks so sweet on the shelf next to the matte. On the other end of the same shelf is my glossy Nikko.
The shelf below has a Bryant's Jake, SBH Phoenix, Wells, Avatar's Jazzman, and Valentine and Heartbreaker. (I'm telling you because I know I'd be squinting at the bottom of the picture and hurting my eyes if I were you 😂)
I'm back! Thank you all for your well wishes and birthday wishes in the last post. I am feeling 100%, and my family member thanks you. :)
Okay, where do we start? So much has happened since I last put a full post on.
I guess I should cover the cow from the last post, she was one of the new additions I was talking about. :) I found her at my local thrift store for 50 cents. I had to get her! She's about 4in tall.
I also managed to get a pre-order in for a Mariposa and Flor set. Mine are coming from the Canadian dealer, Hobby and Toy Central. A very kind MH$P shopper (thanks, B.S.!) directed me to them. The staff was super friendly and helpful. They may have more slots, so if you're looking for a set, tell them I sent you!
I'm so excited to get my hands on this pair.
I've been working on the commission resins, and they are nearing completion. The blanket appaloosa is 90% there, and the leopard is 80%. I may have some photos posted this weekend. :)
The Breyer stuffed pony has been released:
Cute, but nothing I need or want.
Finally, Bravour 54 got himself a little ribbon. Is this just Breyer's way of pacifying the mob? "Look! Look! We gave him an accessory! Something that is FREE. Don't be mad, isn't he cute in his little necklace ribbon???" Lol. Anyway, he's cute, and looks spiffy in his "tie".
Anywhoo, I've got to get going, so I'll wrap it up here. Thank you for reading! I should be on a normal blogging schedule from now on out. :)
For those who didn't get the title, listen to this (it's completely clean, from a TV show like Andy Griffith).
This is what I hear in my head every time I hear Bravour's name.
Anyway, this isn't about TV. This is about Bravour 54, our new 2023 Celebration horse! (Does anyone else have trouble believing we are looking at 2023??)
Bravour is on the ever controversial Trakehner mold. The Trakehner is a little like an olive. Some hate, some love, there is rarely any middle ground. I'm sorry to say that I am of the former group. I don't mind his body, but his head reminds me of a frog. Buggy little eyeballs! I am not, however, going to be one of those people who bash Breyer (and the owners) for their mold choice. It takes opinions to make the world go round, and I suppose I'm glad we're still spinning.
His color is lovely, really nice. I guess I kinda got spoiled on the flashy colors (it does seem a little soon after Reggie [2020] for them to be releasing another bay) but I certainly can't complain about a lack of shading. He looks very rich. I hope the actual pieces are just as well done as the prototype. Ha. Ha-ha. Ha-hahahhahaha! As if. I have yet to see any truly flawless Celebration model.
I like what Breyer is doing right now with the themed posts. I have to admit, I'm not very up on the driving world. I appreciate the little round-up, and I'm looking forward to a post on draft driving! Fingers crossed for a Gypsy Vanner this year! And not on Goffert.
What could you eat everyday for 40 days? Please post it in the comments! I have a set comment number goal in mind, and if we can get it by, say, Sunday the 13th of November, 2022, I will do a special food post! It will be a yummy fun read, I promise. :)
I think I could probably eat cheeseburgers for 40 days. Not just any cheeseburgers, mind you. No, REAL cheeseburgers. RURAL cheeseburgers. The kind made with real, fresh beef. The kind that are 2in thick and dribble juice down your chin. With real cheese and garden grown tomatoes and lettuce. Where I live, you apply condiments with a tablespoon or small spatula, because your average butter knife doesn't hold enough. MmMm! Nothing like it.
And now I've gone and made myself hungry. Guess it's time to prepare for dinner anyway.
Thank you for reading! And don't forget to comment on your favorite food below!
