SDS Current Hyperfixation

Shelby is here! Shelby number 2 that is. :) This is the Grulla Appy I traded for. His show name is SDS Current Hyperfixation. His barn name is undecided, I'm still trying to locate my notebook of unused names. 😅 I decided on the Pryor Mtn Mustang breed (see edit).
EDIT: Thank you CatholicMommy for reminding me about the Pryor Mtn Mustang limitations! I completely forgot about that - OOPS! He is now an American Mustang (generic type). :)

I absolutely adore this guy. I traded with the most wonderful trading partner, Pat Bishop. Pat was completely awesome, mailing within 24hrs of us agreeing on a time! As for packing, I think Breyer ought to have Pat do a workshop at BF on how to properly pack models for shipping. It was incredible! I wish I had taken photos. Double boxed, drowning in packing peanuts, supported on bubble wrap rolls. . . you get the idea! It was the best packing I have ever seen. Pat was super communicative and friendly! Quick to answer questions and send pics. Triple A+ from me! Pat is also happy with her bay, and is planning on showing him at a live show in KY this week. That made me happy! I hope he does well.

I LOVE that his hoof has this little notch sculpted in it!! It's so realistic for a wild horse.

Leg Barring! *insert me doing a happy dance*

This is such a cool element in his tail!

Anybody Want to Trade Me?

Sadness of all sadness. My Shelby arrived yesterday, and he is a glossy bay. *insert crying noises* I do not collect glossies and I do not need another bay at the moment, so he is looking for a new home. You can see his MH$P ad here. In short, I need to trade my glossy bay for a grulla appaloosa or sell for around $125+shipping. Either option would be fantastic at this point. Please send the link to anyone you know who may have a spare grulla appy.

EDIT:  WOOHOO! I believe I have found a trading partner! Thank you to everyone!

Proper Introductions

Pictures! You guys are probably sick and tired of posts on Mariposa and Flor, but I did promise some in-hands and out of boxes. I just adore these guys! The photos still aren't wonderful, but they'll do.

The foal's show name is SDS Perfect Little Stranger, barn name is Balki (if you get it, you get it). The mare is SDS Don't Be Ridiculous (those of you who got the foal's name should get hers too!) and her barn name is Vinca. Vinca is the type of flower that is prevalent in the woodland around my home. :)

He is so detailed, he's even got nice shading on his bottom!

The only flaw, some slight paint lightening on her box-side shoulder. No biggie! :)

One more thing, my Shelby should be here tomorrow! Ideally I will have some pics by tomorrow evening, otherwise it will probably be Monday (I'm out of town following Church on Sunday). Fingers crossed it's the appy! :)

Broken Bans

I bought a Shelby today. I was technically on a pony ban until summer, but he just kinda happened. I wasn't even in any real need for a pony fix, seeing as I just unboxed my Mariposa and Flor like 3hrs before I ordered him. It was just something about his delightful spotty bum. :3 I'm really in quite desperate need of his gorgeous grulla self on my shelf. If I don't get the appy I will definitely need to trade. Did any of you purchase a Shelby today?

As I mentioned above, I unboxed my Mariposa and Flor today! I did have another set on pre-order from Canada, but the more I thought about it, the more I thought it was unfair to buy one just to resell. I contacted them this morning and cancelled, sending my set down the line to the wait-listers. I will take photos of them unboxed as soon as I can. :) It has been rainy for 3 weeks straight. Friday is supposed to be nicer, so hopefully I can get some then. They are really nice. I had to do some considerable shuffling of my shelves to make room, meaning that I (sadly) had to move one whole shelf of classics and my old experimental customs to a high shelf in my closet. I won't see them much for a while, but it's nice to know they're still there.

As for random life updates, I feel like I owe you wonderful readers an explanation as to why my posting has been so sparse recently. Two weeks ago or so, I began having considerable pain in my head, jaw, shoulder, and chest (left side). Of course I saw the doctor, but they couldn't find anything so I went home on OTC pain killers. I was in a terrific amount of discomfort for over a week and a half, but I'm doing better now. Praying that sticks. During that week and a half, I really had little to no motivation to do anything. Since the pain is gone, I'm catching up on everything, hobby and real life related. Sometimes it is just plugging away, one foot in front of the other. I promise I really do have some cool stuff coming! I have a mini prop tutorial half done, another started and a blog collab still in the works. :) I'm also hoping to do another flash fun photo show this June(?).

Because of this lovely, wet, old, gloomy weather, I only have one photo for you today. I'm sorry. This is a pic that a very close friend of mine sent me today. I love dragons (especially sweet, little, chubby, baby ones).

Not my pic!

Be someone's candle today!

Naughty Nokota

Happy Palm Sunday everyone! Hosanna to the King of Kings. 🌿

Yesterday was April Fool's Day, and, in keeping with tradition, Breyer tried to pull a sneaky on us. They announced that they had made the roached mane permanent on Nokota. Seemed a little far fetched but maybe they were just trying to avoid another Discoheart-heartbreak like last year.

We Collector Club members had seen this sneak-peek on Thursday:

So most of us were expecting a reveal in the coming days. Many (including myself) were guessing a Nokota, so the Breyer Blog post this morning didn't shock me.

What did surprise me was that it was a Gambler's Choice! Say what?!? We always used to have a GC on a Classics/Freedom Series mold. They must be doing away with that this year (no problem with me; I don't collect 1:12).

I like this release a lot. I feel like the bay is way too much like Bolero, but I'm sure he will be well received nonetheless. My favorites are the grulla appy and the tobiano. I might buy one of these, we'll see. I'm trying to keep myself on a pony ban (not counting my Mariposa and Flor) until BF time, but these dudes just may make me break.

Tell me which colorway is your favorite in the comments! Also, what would you have named this release? Breyer calls him Shelby, but I don't think it suits him.
