New Additions That Were . . . Missed??

Well, not sure how that happened. I managed to miss publishing the post about the other two horses I bought from the auction. Sorry about that.

First up, SDS Menthol Burns, AKA Ice.

Such detailed mohair!

Pretty glass eyes!

Very nice dorsal stripe.

Leg barring!!!

Nicely done horseshoes.

This picture just turned out funny so I added it. :)

Isn't he nice for $12? He's in excellent condition, considering his past. His hair was still wrapped in the plastic sleeves. The only thing he was missing was his base (which I'm okay with, since I find bases are a nuisance). For those wondering, he is the 2008-2009 Best In Show QH.

Second! And this one has a story at the end. SDS Attack of the Mailman, AKA Randy.

Gorgeous dapples!!

I love those dapples. Randy is the 2008-2009 Best In Show Arabian. He is in fair condition given his age, but is really no better than shelf or low PSQ. Part of that is because of what happened at the auction.

So, the auctioneer is actually a family member of a friend of mine, and his name is Randy. When he's not auctioneering, he works as a mailman for USPS.

Anyway, the table was going "choice", so I was standing there, waiting for them to finish with the other junk on the table (some diecast cars, magazines, and a huge Michael Jackson wall memoriam [it sold for $18!!]), when suddenly, Randy (the man) strikes one of the wall hangings off the wall above the table (by accident, of course). The picture fell directly onto this little Arab. In retrospect, it was rather humorous, but in the moment I was pretty frustrated. I ended up buying the Arab for $5.

What is happening to me? I never used to like glossies, decos, or mohairs. In the last three months, I have purchased one glossy deco and two mohairs! Shock and horror, could my collecting tastes be shifting?? I hope not; models being produced in gloss have saved me a lot of money over the years!!

I'll need a bib, please

 So. Much. Drool.

This is Heath, next spring's first CC model:

And this is Mini Heath,  A STABLEMATE VERSION OF OTHELLO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Okay, so, they are both absolutely gorgeous, and I am in utter love. Especially with big Heath. I was considering dropping my membership this year, but nope! I'm gonna need that big hunk of love. And I might need to get the deluxe membership for that sweet little boy too.

New Additions Part 1

After sifting through dozens of photos, I decided I have enough new addition pics and models to make two posts. This fall has been very model heavy for me lol, even though I said I wasn't going to buy any more for a while (whoops).

I realized I never covered my BF Scurry. I had a half written post, but I must have forgotten to finish and publish it. Because of that, I'll cover her first.

Isn't she lovely? I was tickled to receive the bay. She only has one area of flaws, and that is on her left cheek/side of face. You can see it in the last photo. Its not too noticeable in normal light, but the daylight really makes it stand out. Her name is SDS Thursday Daisies, barn name Daisy.

A couple weeks ago (maybe three now, I've lost count) I bought some spooky SMs from the website. I hate the gore/satanic side of Halloween, but I'm very partial to fall and the pumpkins and autumnal decor. Candy Corn Mule Cornelius was an absolute must for me! I ordered two bags as soon as the store opened (prior to the glitches, apparently). Both of them were mules. I chose one to keep, and the other was for sale (sale is pending).
I just adore the little fellow! He is a decorator and is glossy, so it seems I should despise him, but he's rapidly becoming a favorite. :3
His show name is SDS Sweet Hoof, barn name Farley (like the candy corn company).

Such nice masking on his teeth!

Now, my last post told you all that I attended a rural auction and hauled home four horses. I asked you to guess which four I bought. Only one reader commented, and she was only partially correct.
(Btw, the reader who commented was HorsesBySamantha. She's a young hobbyist who has a really cool blog. You should follow the link and check it out!)
She guessed the Standing Stock Horse Foal, Adios, Indian Pony, and Old Timer. Two of the horses she suggested are ones I brought home. I will put them in today's post, and the other two in the next post.

They are. . . . Adios and Old Timer!

The Old Timer is from 1966. Yep, he's nearly 60 years old, and he still has his hat!!!  I might have done a little happy dance and clapped my hands when I saw it on the table next to him. He's glossy, which means he was made in the first year(s) of that run's production. He's in great shape, with the exception of one blackish rub on his right hip. I can live with that. ;) His show and barn name is SDS Nahum.
Adios is Yellow Mount. He is the shoulder spot variation. He's in pretty good shape, with minor front leg warping and a few flaws on his lower legs. Nothing too bad. His show name has yet to be chosen, but his barn name is Roy.

Well, that's all the new arrivals for today's post. There are two more for the next one, and they are from the auction of course. I put the original auction photo below if you'd like another shot at guessing who they are. :)

All guesses/guessers will be noted in the next post; feel free to leave a URL so I can link to you when posting about your guess.

Thank you for reading! Have a wonderful Sunday. ✝️

So Sorry!

So sorry for the unintended hiatus. Life got crazy and I have had zero time for anything. I haven't even been able to work on my crochet projects! A HUGE update post is coming this week, but here are some highlights.

The fair went very, very well.

Customs are in the works.

Giveaway update is coming.

I have at least 2 new webcrawlers that are ravishing my blog, I am averaging nearly 200 hits per day (about 5 times my no-post-days average). Once again, they pose you no harm but are bothering me.

Six new models to introduce.

A passel of Breyer releases (which I may or may not bother to post about, seeing how late it is)/

Cool, new HorsieMama giveaway prize to show off.

OF model for sale.

A whole mess of general life and hobby life updates.

I am hoping to get at least two posts to cover some of this stuff this week. So sorry for the break in posting. All back to normal now!

While you're waiting for the next post, can you guess in the comments which horses came home with me from this local auction group? Hint, there are four of them. . .

Fair Preparations

Before I start in on this post, I want to say thank you to Harecroft Horses for the helpful comment about Cob/Vanner ponies! Thanks a bunch! For whatever reason Google won't let me comment a reply atm. I have seen a few model Vanner ponies in photo showing (typically in CM classes), but I wasn't sure how well they were known by other judges. (And consequently, how they do in photo shows where a vanner-holic like myself is not the judge! lol)

It's fair time, it's fair time! Which also means it is my busiest time of year. I contribute 75-100 entries in my local fair every year, so this time of year is a little nutsy! It is exactly 11 days 'til opening day, so things are getting tight for time. I've only been getting 4-6hrs of sleep (yes I know, it's not good for me. . .) and I was good and sick yesterday. Feeling better today.

Yesterday, I sorted through my photos and picked my photography entries. These are some of my choices:

Entry for Color - Animal

Entry for Black and White (BW) - Animal

Entry for BW - Landscape

One of the photos to be included in a sample scrapbook page

Entry for BW - Other

Entry for BW - Still Life

Entry for Color - Other

Entry for Color - Landscape

Today I worked on some (more) crochet. Some of you know that one of my other major hobbies is amigurumi. I absolutely love those tiny critters! I did six amigurumi entries for the fair this year. I may share pictures later, if there's any interest. I am also "knitting" a scarf on one of those loom things (?). I got it at a thrift store to experiment with using up some extra bulky yarn, and it works wonders. It takes forever though. I will post pics of the scarf when it's done (if I remember).

I have not forgotten the giveaway; I am still working on it. I am considering letting you readers preview the prizes one at a time while I get them together - would there be any interest in that idea? Let me know in the comments.

In a last piece of news, Scurry is due to be here tomorrow! I am beyond excited. Desperately hoping for the bay!

Moment of Weakness

I honestly didn't have any intention of participating in this afternoon's second chance sale for BreyerFest. No intention at all. But, yesterday evening, I was catching up on my blog reading on Brittany's Breyers, and lo and behold, I see in-person pictures of a Scurry. I'd seen plenty of perlino Scurries, but only one or two bay versions. I was suddenly in love! I bought one today at the sale. Fingers crossed for bay! If not I will probably sell. :)

Excuse the watermark, it's the only pic of her I could find!

I do have one model on the mold already - Honeybunch. I got her the year she was released. I show her as a Gypsy Vanner x Haflinger. I'd like to show Scurry as a Gypsy Vanner Pony, but I'm still deciding. If you got a Scurry, what do you show her as? Let me know in the comments!

I'm still working on the anniversary giveaway, I hope to have more news soon! I know there will be at least one HSO (horse-shaped-object) involved (at least).

Mostly Dead

Well. That was a longer break than I expected. I didn't forget, I promise! I was just too busy to do anything. Sorry! You may remember me mentioning a local fair I am very involved with in the fall. Well, it's coming and I am miles behind. Things are insane, and to top it all off, I started a new medication. Pretty sick for the first few days, but then all was well. . . until the dose increased. 🙄 Hopefully this is a 24hr thing not a 4 day long ordeal.

But, at the moment I am mostly dead (which is still slightly alive according to Miracle Max).

Two days ago was the one year anniversary of this blog. THANK YOU! I believe we were at 11,300 some hits when the day dawned. I am so happy to hit this mark! There will be a giveaway in the future to commemorate the occasion, but not now. 😅

I finished the collab horse a couple weeks ago, but haven't had time to post pics. Soon! I'm really happy with him. :)

Finally, a new Breyer and four new Wades joined the herd this past week. CWB is yet to be named.

I will post again soon! I won't let it go so long again. I just need to get into gear and figure out how to make a 36hr day so I can get this stuff done.
