Hobby Slump and Covid

My backyard during the snowstorm.

Neighbor's backyard after the snow storm.

(Sorry, the pics are outdated. There's a LOT more snow at my house now.)

The first half of December was really good. The second half was not so good. Don't get me wrong, Christmas is always very special and wonderful (especially when spent with family), but getting Covid immediately after is not fun. I was down with it for about a week.
January's been bad too. I fell into a hobby slump after my Covid, and just haven't been doing much. All of my chronic conditions flared too, so it sapped both energy and ambition. (I'm doing better now, just a few lingering issues which should be cleared up at my next Dr appointment.)
Since I last wrote, I have *checks notes, becomes concerned about personal spending habits* more than thirty new model horses to write about. Among them is a very special little fella who I am very excited to show off. Fingers crossed this snow stops flying soon so I can snap some good pics of him!
Oh, I also have the collab horse. ;)

In the meantime, enjoy some random pics of my camera roll depicting some current works in progress. I apologize for the horrific mess that is my desk.

Closing thought: Would any of my readers like to see a giveaway featuring a collection of miniatures? I'm thinking things like polymer clay model horse acc., mini candies (like pictured above), mini chip bags, etc. Let me know in the comments!!

Fifth Day of Spotted Dreams Fun Week: Daily Challenge

Sorry I didn't a get a post out last night! The busy day turned scary in the evening with terrifying tornado warnings and rotating storm clouds skirting our rural town. We were in the basement with our pets for a while. The electricity flashed and the devices were off the internet for a time. I will get the post out sometime, but I'm not sure when.

Today's daily challenge is:

Make a coordinated prop set.

Use any medium you would like! Just at least 3 pieces that coordinate (think of grooming sets, food sets, mini pet care, etc.)

Have fun! And join me at 11:30am for the Q&A. I'm hoping to be on live so I can answer your questions in real time! Thank you for all your questions. :)

Pottery that Gallops

Second post of the day, I can hardly keep up!

Another reveal today:

This one is a SR, and the model behind yesterday's SP. He's certainly a. . . what shall we say. . . interesting model. While really, really not my pinch of dragon dust, he's a nicely designed model (on the whole) with a well thought out mold choice. We did just see Atynai as Uffington in 2021, but I suppose it's ok, seeing as he's a deco. I wish his mane was not red, but I understand why they chose it.

This morning's post had the SP in it (the post was out long before the Breyer staff was even in their offices) and sharp eyed reader Equiden espied the answer to the mold and color guess. Impressive!

Also, I will be returning with another Collection Collective later this week, and I want to know who you guys want to see. Please tell me what mold(s) you are interested in, and you can try for a specific model, but I might not have it. I'll get as close to what you want as I can!

Its been cold and snowy here all week. Here are a few photos for those interested! If you're not, no worries, just speed scroll down to the bottom so you can leave your feedback about the Collection Collective post! :) Be sure to come back tomorrow, as I have a really awesome New Arrival post.

Thank you for reading. :)

Blustery Day

Brrrr! It's cold here in Pennsylvania! This morning's temp was 26 degrees (Fahrenheit). Wind chills are in the low teens. This weekend's real-feel is slated for negative twenty-nine, with wind chills in the negative thirties to forties. I ventured outside early this morning to take some photos, but it was too cold to stay out for too long. The light wasn't great either. I did manage to get some of Adrian though, in all his winter regalia. I got a nice one of Jasper in his Rambo too, but I accidentally hit "delete" instead of "edit" so I lost that one (yes I did try to recover it, I was unsuccessful).

I ended up getting the knees of my jeans soaked since I was kneeling in the snow (I had Adrian up on a board so he wouldn't sink down in) lol.

Today is the kind of day to settle down with a nice, hot cup of coffee and a chocolate. If you have time for such rest breaks, that is! This season is so busy. I'm mixing my coffee break with my blog writing at the moment.

I received a tasty bag of Lindor chocolates as a Sunday School Teacher gift this year (tip: if you are looking for a SS teacher gift, go with chocolates! You can never lose. And, after dealing with small children early Sunday morning, we can usually use a little chocolate boost!).

I have a puzzle laying out in my living room, but it is only started (border is done, only little chunks otherwise).

The last puzzle had a really creepy little pony on it. I typically love all HSOs, but this one had something funny going on with it.

What do you think of him?

The final decorations are up, and the finishing touches have been applied.

I needle-felted this little bear over the autumn months.

Final Christmas cards are trickling in.

This one is a Billy Jacobs' print.

Snow is on the ground, with more predicted for right up through Christmas Eve night.

The cats are snuggled down on the kitchen chairs to the left and right of me.

Primrose
I've got more projects to wrap up, so I suppose I best be going. The chocolate is gone, and my coffee is lukewarm. Off I go! Thank you for reading! Hope you have a very blessed Christmas. :) 🎄

Pssst. . .  be on the lookout for a new model post coming soon!

Christmas Blanket!

A couple days ago, I was lucky enough to win one of Horsiemama's giveaways. The prize was a beautiful NIP Breyer holiday Traditional blanket. To top it all off, the blanket was in my favorite holiday pattern Breyer has ever made! I'm a big sucker for cutesy Christmas designs.

Anyways, the blanket arrived today, accompanied by a sweet little note. Thank you Lynn! It is very much appreciated. I took photos, but they are horrible because of the weather. I will try to get better ones later next week (it's supposed to rain all weekend).

I mean seriously, this sort of muddy rain is just not okay in my book.

I chose to model it on Chablis (Idocus mold). He looks so handsome in it! Even if he is wearing an old, beat-up, outdated bridle. 😂

SDS Galactic Quest, AKA Weston, Bavarian WB, Bay Stallion.

So thank you very much to Lynn of horsiemama.blogspot.com, for hosting this super fun giveaway! (Pssst. . . she's doing another one RIGHT NOW!)

Speaking of blankets, I couldn't help but notice this funny goof when browsing my favorite tack shop's website:

Do you spot it? Yep, that's right, they accidentally listed those Breyer blankets at $94.95 each! They will probably pull the page and fix it soon, but it gave me a good laugh.

What about you? Have you ever seen a funny typo on a store's website? Share about it in the comments!

Winter Has Come

And with winter comes the snow. My town was hit with a snowstorm last night, and it is to be continuing all day, and well into tonight. Here are some photos of the current conditions.

This is the tip of the iceberg (no pun intended) for where I live. It is not uncommon to see -15F to -20F degrees in January. We get large snow drifts that close up front doors and bury our mailboxes frequently.

There are two sets of photos, one from two days ago, and one from today. The first set is from two days ago, when we got a light dusting. ⬇

It is not at all uncommon for me to look out my back window and see a herd of 20-40 white-tailed deer standing out there. This is one of the newer herd members, I believe she joined the herd a couple months ago.

These photos are from today. ⬇

This image was taken prior to two more flurries, so the snow is deeper now.

This is a spring onion planter, that now looks more like an abominable snowman/porcupine mix.

Even my pets are all snuggled up! This is Dexter, my 14yr old Tuxedo DSH.

Rosy, my 2yr old Black DSH.

And everybody knows Blanche, my 3yr old Broken Lemon Agouti American Guinea Pig. She is peaking out of her cozy hidey-hole box. I didn't have a veggie snack for her, so she didn't trouble herself with fully emerging.

On a model horsey note, I have seen that the stock images for Giorgio, Poppy and Olly, and Kit have surfaced, so I will be updating the JAH photos post with those ASAP. Thank you!
